All About the Facts of Teeth

Would you like a strong and healthy smile? If so, you need to keep your teeth in tip-top shape. Unfortunately, that’s a difficult thing to do if you don’t know much about your teeth. Well, our dentist, Dr. Catalina Phan, is happy to tell you all about your chompers so you can keep them in the best condition possible. To do so, she would like to share the following tooth facts:

-Teeth consist of a variety of different things, like the crown, enamel, dentin, pulp and tooth root. They are considered the strongest bones in the body.

-You have many different types of teeth, like the incisors (the sharp front teeth that cut your food), canines (the pointed teeth that tear the food), premolars (the teeth with pointed cusps that crush and tear food), and the molars (the strong back teeth that grind and chew food).

-Unfortunately, there are many things that threaten to harm the teeth regularly. Some of those things are plaque, bacteria, unnatural pressure and acid. They can cause cavities, tooth cracks and fractures and even enamel erosion.

-It’s important to keep your teeth in tip-top shape by brushing them every morning and night and flossing and rinsing them daily. It’s also vital to receive a dental cleaning and exam every six months.
